An Investment You Can't Lose Out On!!!

Becca does have a very tender heart, which we know that the Lord has given her. She has such a heart to do what is right and has a good conscience, and she doesn't understand why people do such terrible things. She has soooooo many questions about life and eternity. Just the other day, Jon and I were talking with her about Jesus and what He did on the cross to allow us to have eternal life, and she started to cry. We talked about the nails in His hands and feet, and that He took the beating for us, so that we wouldn't have to take the beating for our own sins. We explained everything, which I know she has heard before, but I think the more we talk about it with our children, the more they are going to understand and remember what He did for us! I can't express the importance of having an open line with your children about the Lord. It is the most important role as a parent - to raise them up in the way they should go! Not just to rely on a school or a church with their "state of the art" children's program to do the job! Sometimes it is difficult with as busy as we are, but these are the most precious times we will ever have with our children! Last night, I witnessed the fruits of our time spent with purpose, with family and the Lord. On her own, Becca sat down with our family devotional in the living room, with the TV going and interrupted us, asking "can I read the devotion tonight?" At first we wanted to say "not now...but later", but then we thought "no, let her now...she may not want to later". So we turned the TV off, turned our brain on and Becca read the devotion. Now, if you could've seen and heard her as she was reading, my eyes welled up...to see my 7 year old reading aloud God's word and then praying the sweetest prayer! I NEVER want to get too busy that we can't experience these times together...no matter how old they are! And Addie sat there and was listening intently to Becca, looking up to her in a way that Jon and I would approve!!!! These years spent talking to our children about the Lord, especially starting while they are young, is an INVESTMENT into the future, not just for them - but their children, and their children's children. We know by faith that these small seeds that we plant now, will grow and bring a bountiful harvest for His Kingdom.

I'm tearing up just imagining your family and sweet Becca! I pray that we will all continue to have moments when our prayers and time invested in our children come to fruition.
